Welcome to Willow Class. Our class is led by Mrs Pollard and Mr Govey and we have Mr Burton working with us as he trains to be a teacher. In Year 6 we take responsibility seriously and enjoy helping to organise lots of things around school alongside our friends in Yew Class. Our St Botolph’s Christian values of respect, responsibility and resilience are at the heart of everything we do. We have an amazing team of prefects, reader leaders, road safety officers, house captains and of course head student team who help to carry out duties and organise competitions and events during the year.
We are starting to really understand the importance of teamwork as we try to live up to our motto – Teamwork makes the dream work.
We love number challenges and problem solving and we are also working hard to improve our reading skills.
We enjoy PE sessions with Mr Cave on Tuesdays and sometimes Thursdays. Homework is set on a Friday and should be returned on Wednesdays.
Our topics this year are A Child’s War (History-based topic on the WW2), Blood Heart ( a science-based topic), Frozen Kingdom (a geography-based topic), Hola Mexico and a Take One topic linked with the rest of the school. Alongside this, we will prepare ourselves for the SATs tests to be taken in May. We are also looking forward to our trip to Norfolk in Term 5.
We are lucky enough to have two regular volunteer helpers – Mrs Chapman listens to readers once a week and always has lovely stories to share with us and Miss Horgan helps us out one afternoon a week too; reading with us and helping us work on our handwriting.
We are looking forward to lots of challenges, hard work and fun this year!
