Sports Day – Wednesday 4th July 2018
Wednesday 27th June 2018
Sports Day this year will take place on Wednesday 4th July 2018. In the morning we will be having ‘House’ events where every pupil in every class will take part in 12 short activities. Parents may join us at 11.45am for a picnic lunch followed by traditional races during the afternoon. Unfortunately, we cannot have a parents’ race due to Health and Safety restrictions.
Sports Day will be very much ‘House’ based. We have four Houses (named after local rivers) as follows:
Cray – Blue Darent – Green
Fleet – Red Medway – Yellow
All pupils are allocated a House on admission to school (siblings are always grouped together). All pupils should come to school wearing their PE kit, with a t-shirt of their House colour, and will remain in kit all day. This should be a plain t-shirt and preferably not a football shirt. All pupils have practised their events and should know what House they are in. Staff are also allocated a House and will be wearing their house colours.
Each event will earn points towards a House winner for FS/KS1 and KS2 and an overall Sports Day House Winner.
All pupils will need to bring a named water bottle, a sun hat and, if the weather is forecast to be warm and sunny, sun screen should be applied before they come to school.
Spectators (parents, carers, grandparents etc) are invited to join us from 11.45am on the KS1 field to picnic lunch with their children. Following lunch there will be a designated spectators’ area which we ask you to stay within; please bring your own chairs if you wish to sit down, and of course, try to wear House colours. Please do not go to your child(ren) for any reason, (even to give them water bottles), as we have a very hectic schedule to get through. Due to the Universal Infant Free School Meals policy a free packed lunch will be provided on this day. Can you please complete the form below and return to school by Friday 29th June 2018.
During the afternoon there will be a collection for improving our school grounds, and we will be grateful for any donations made. Our FOSB team has also kindly agreed to sell refreshments during the afternoon.
The itinerary for the day is as follows:
09.00 – Assembly
10.00 – Round Robin events for all pupils
11.45 – School gate (main pedestrian only) open to parents – please collect your child(ren) from their normal pick up points and go to the KS1 field for a picnic lunch. Any child whose parent is unable to attend will picnic with the staff.
12.30 – Children return to classes for registration
12.45 – Traditional races
14.50 – Staff v Y6 relay
15:00 – Presentation of winners’ trophies
Please note that parking will not be permitted on the school site.
All pupils will return to class to collect their belongings and should be collected as normal. All we need to do now is keep our fingers crossed for good weather.Back to news
