Music

Every child is given the opportunity to learn an instrument throughout their time at St Botolph’s.  In Year 1 the children are taught basic singing skills and basic notation.  In Year 2 they continue to learn notation and we introduce the ocarina.  Year 3 then learn the recorder, where they are taught by reading the music.  Year 4 are taught the keyboard and Years 5 and 6 learn to play the guitar and ukulele, as well as digital music, which involves using programmes such as Garageband.

There is also the opportunity for children to have private music lessons in keyboard, guitar and drums, which can be organised through our specialist music teachers.

Children have the opportunity to join our large choir in Key Stage 2, where they attend various events, including the O2 and local music festivals.
