The St Botolph’s Curriculum has carefully planned activities and learning which matches our children’s needs, expanding their opportunities and widening their horizons. Learning is carefully connected, interweaving knowledge and skills to make it meaningful, while ensuring that the National Curriculum is followed.
At St Botolph’s, we have a tradition that we mark Remembrance Day by holding our 2-minute silence on the school playground all together. Just before 11am, we all made our way to the playground carrying our homemade wooden poppy discs. We listened to Mrs Chitty’s speech, which helped us to understand the importance of Remembrance Day and why we fall silent for 2 minutes – to remember those who fought in wars and those who are still fighting in wars allowing us to live in freedom.
When we returned inside, we all hung our decorated discs onto specially made ‘Remembrance trees’ which now stand proudly in each Phase of the school as a reminder of those who have lost their lives fighting in battle.
