Significance
To begin our term learning about the big idea of ‘Significance’, the children were given the challenge to create a song, poem or performance based on a famous person or event. They had to spend time researching their chosen significant person or event and work together as a team to create their final piece. Each class then chose some of these to present to the rest of their Phase later in the week.
We had a large variety of significant people and events ranging from Usain Bolt and the Gunpowder Plot in Phase 1, The Plague, Neil Armstrong, Dame Shirley Bassey, Marcus Rashford and Alexander Graham Bell in Phase 2 and Nelson Mandela, WW1, Rosa Parks, Queen Elizabeth, 911 and Emmeline Pankhurst in Phase 3.
During the term and through the big idea of Significance, children will have the opportunity to learn more about significant people and events from the past and present day.
