Year 5 Charity Day for Age UK

For Year 5’s charity week, we decided to raise money for Age UK.

Age UK are a fantastic, local, independent charity who work in the community to support older people, their families and carers. They want everyone to be able to love later life, live independently, access appropriate services and enrich their lives. They have been working to help older people since 2011 with the aim to be the principal organisation in delivering support for older people in North West Kent.

What do they do?

  • Advise: they offer a free information and Advice service to help older people in North West Kent with benefit claims and signposting to other useful organisations.
  • Deliver hot meals: they deliver freshly cooked, locally sourced two-course meals to your home from our five-star kitchens in Gravesend every day of the week, 365 days a year.
  • Support: they offer a wide range of community services to help you stay independent in your own home for longer and keep you engaged with the community.
  • Activities: they offer social day opportunities, activities and healthy living facilities, in addition to dementia support in two centres across North West Kent.

To raise money, we invited children to wear pink, green, orange and blue into school as they are the colour of the Age UK logo. We also held a sponsored run where each member of Year 5 ran laps of the field and raised money from their families and friends.

Altogether we raised a staggering £672.31!

Thank you to everyone who donated
