St Botolph’s take the West End

St Botolph’s take the West End

What a week! Phase 2 were the first year groups to head up to enjoy ‘Matilda’ on stage in the West End of London!
We had an amazing time, and the excitement was bubbling from the moment we met at the train station in the morning all the way through to the time our adults collected us.
We were mesmerised by the show with fantastic singing, dancing and acting. We couldn’t help but look around the theatre at the fantastic scenery as we sat in our seats.
Years 1 and 5 represented themselves and our school wonderfully on Wednesday for their trip to Matilda at the Cambridge Theatre. They all had a great time and spent time looking around Trafalgar Square before heading off to see the show. Mrs Webzell got into conversation with Mr Wormwood about books, and another of our pupils caught a paper plane – let’s see if we can make it three planes being caught!
We were mesmerised by the festive lights on our walk back to the train station.
The children have all been learning the words to the songs really well, and we had an impromptu Matilda sing-along after Eucharist on Friday!

Our third and final trip up to the Cambridge Theatre to see the marvellous Matilda! Although this trip was a little chillier, we didn’t let that dampen our spirits.

It was wonderful having our youngest and eldest pupils together for the day, and as always, they did us proud with their excellent behaviour. There was plenty of talk, excitement and card games on the train as we made our way to London.
Mr Oldershaw, our Aletheia Trust Director of Education, was extremely impressed with how our year 6 pupils cared for and engaged in conversation with our Reception pupils throughout the day!
We hope that you’ve enjoyed talking about the show at home and thank you for being such great representatives of St Botolph’s! We had lots of lovely comments from the public throughout the day about how well behaved you all were – well done!
The staff had a great time, and although big trips like this are lots of work, we love seeing the children experience these special opportunities.
St Botolph’s can now begin getting into Christmas mode!
