We had a wonderful World Book Day this year with the children taking part in a wide variety of reading activities. The day started with Mrs Pollard leading us in a special World Book Day worship. This included listening to a ‘masked reader’ and trying to guess who was reading each story, followed by us having the opportunity to see all if the wonderful costumes that everyone had dressed up in for the day. Mrs Pollard then read a ‘St Botolph’s version’ of ‘Ten Delicious teachers’ by Ross Montgomery. The children loved seeing their teachers featured in the book!
During the day, pupils took part in a Reading treasure hunt where they had to hunt around the school for clues to the titles of different books, along with activities in class.
KS2 also took part in the BBC live lesson where they delved into both fiction and non-fiction and explored different genres to help them design a pop-up library space where they could all go together to read.
Lastly, every pupil had the opportunity to visit the ‘St Botolph’s Bookstore’ where they could exchange a free book token for a range of titles, enabling them to have a free book to take home to read and a lastly memory of the day.
